Theu.s. Population, Have A Higher Risk Of Suicide - 884 Words

Veterans, compared to the U.S. population, have a higher risk of suicide. Suicide is a major public health concern, with suicide being the 11th leading cause of death across all ages and the seventh leading cause of death in males. Depression, PTSD, substance use disorders, access to firearms, and a history of self-harm or suicide attempts are factors that place veterans at higher risk for suicide. The increased risk for suicide among veterans has been brought to public attention, which has lead The Department of Veteran Affairs to announce the prevention of suicide to be a major national priority. In response to the increase in suicide rates, the Department of Veteran Affairs has created a comprehensive suicide prevention efforts and has collaborated with the of Defense (DoD) to develop a clinical practice guideline based on best available evidence and expert consensus (Chapman Ibrahim, 2015). The Department of Veteran Affair and the Department of Defense have created a Clinical Practice Guideline for the Assessment and Management of Suicide Risk. This guideline was created based off of scientific knowledge and research. The guideline looks for several factors to assess the risk of suicide in veterans, including demographic and family history, psychiatric factors, access to means, and protective factors. The Department of Veteran Affairs used a multifaceted approach when creating the suicide prevention program in order to reduce suicide in the veteran population.

Music is one of many forms of art. There are varying types of music which consists of seven different concepts. These concepts: rhythm, tone, beat, melody, harmony, expression, and structure, are the fundamental parts of music. These parts of music, with all of its characteristics, has been proven throughout history to change views of most humans on earth regardless of age race, sex, and nationality. The creation of music is still disputed; however its early forms consisted of simple beats, rhythms, and melodies that would often mimic the human body’s natural sounds (Gough, â€Å"The Origins of Music†). These simple patterns eventually grew more complex over time, mixing different patterns with different characteristics. The complexity of these music pieces would create states of wonder and awe to the church members. These musical forms, like all of the future music genres, relied on the musical scales; however it started using complex math formulas to add another degree of complexity. An example of these musical forms is the Gregorian chant. Gregorian chants originated from the Catholic Church during the reign of Pope Gregory I, a great scholar and musician (â€Å"St. Gregory the Great – Pope and Doctor of the Church†). Now, fast forward to the late eighteenth century and a shift of opinions becomes apparent. At this time of transition, composers and society as a whole was becoming freer and more open. These changes affect us today (â€Å"Nationalist Composers†). People of many nations were full of pride for their home countries. Many of these people were composers and created patriotic music. These music pieces were full of pride and helped unite the citizens of a country despite their race or social status. Racisms in Crash Many movies try to tackle huge issues that face society in hopes that the ideas presented will encourage society to change. In Crash directed by Paul Haggis, he tackles the idea of racism through cause and effect between multiple groups of people in the different races. The world has been racist and intolerant of people different from themselves. Millions of people have suffered due to the prejudice of people that couldn’t understand the change of differences among one another. According to the TKI model, I can say that I have more accommodating and cooperating behavior instead of competitiveness and avoiding. The compromising characteristic is present on an average scale. We can say that accommodating and cooperating is one and the same characters. These are the most important characteristics that one should carry within them. It guides to manage the conflicts and roots of the same. In the case of conflict if one arty tries to understand the conflicts and try to solve it then the other party also cooperate with the other party. It shows that one partys accommodating behavior changes the behavior of other party. In this way, TKI suggest that individuals should carry some collaborating and cooperative behavior. The other behavior we talked in collaborating which is as good as cooperativeness. As I scored highest score in this character I am opposite from avoiding. I generally try to deep dig myself into the reasons for conflicts and then find out the reason for the conflicts. This is the best way to solve any conflicts. It shows that the person has the potential to explore the problems and find effective solutions to it (Foster, 2006). The other negative models are compromising that is the middle scale of competing and accommodating. As scored moderate marks in this character, I need to work out on this and remove such bad character for my personality (Dickey, 2015). The other characters of TKI are avoiding and competing. Competing refers to a situation when the individuals do not focus on others problems and try to full their own egos.
